Sungha Kim was born in Pusan, South Korea, where she began to study the piano at age six. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Chung-Ang University. She performed with a number of orchestras in Korea including the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, the Pusan Civic Orchestra, and the Music College Orchestra at Chung-Ang University. During her student years, Ms. Kim participated in the International Festival of Russian Music and in the Austrian National Music School Festival.

Sungha came to Chicago three years ago to study for a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance with Dr. Ludmila Lazar, Professor of Piano and Chair of the Piano Department at the Chicago College of Performing Arts of Roosevelt University. Since her arrival, Ms. Kim has distinguished herself on the local musical scene. Her most recent accomplishments include First Place winner of the prestigious Society of American Musicians Young Artist Piano Competition and as winner of the Lake View Music Society competition. In addition, Ms. Kim was a scholarship recipient of the Winnetka Music Club and of Roosevelt University where she completed her graduate studies in May, 2003. She made her U.S. debut as a concert pianist with the Chicago Fine Arts Society.
